Introduction
At the Sandra Salgado Montells Foundation, we share a common vision with educational centres such as the El Llindar Foundation, which place the individual at the centre and offer tailored learning pathways for young people who have not found their place in the traditional education system. Our collaboration with El Llindar allows us to provide continuity to meaningful educational journeys, supporting paths that require time, trust and real opportunities. Pedro’s story is a clear example of the value of this shared work.
Pedro joined El Llindar in the 2019–2020 academic year after not completing compulsory secondary education (ESO) at his previous school. There, he discovered a different way of learning and doing. He felt listened to and encouraged to make decisions about his own path. He began to think with his hands and developed a desire to train in the field of automotive studies. He discovered that, beyond the classroom, the workshop was an ideal space to ask questions, develop skills relevant to his education and imagine his future. Above all, it brought him closer to a field he had been passionate about since childhood: motorcycling.
Before finishing his first year, Pedro already knew he had made the right decision. The alternance model—combining training with work in a real professional environment—proved deeply engaging, and he was eager to progress and continue learning. As a result, during the 2020–2021 academic year he decided to continue with the second year of the programme. During this stage, Pedro not only acquired technical knowledge, but also strengthened his self-concept and clarified the professional field he wanted to pursue. Before the end of the year, he was certain that he wanted to continue studying.
It was at this point that Pedro came into contact with the Sandra Salgado Montells Foundation and, thanks to its support, was able to enrol in the first year of the Intermediate Vocational Training Programme in Bodywork at the Montlau Vocational Training School in Barcelona. As he progressed through the different stages of his education, Pedro’s academic results steadily improved. This enabled him to complete his internships at the Porsche Centre in Barcelona and later secure a position as an assistant instructor at El Llindar’s automotive school.
Throughout this period, the support of the Sandra Salgado Montells Foundation remained constant. The Foundation’s scholarship allowed Pedro to complete the Intermediate Vocational Training Programme and later pursue an Advanced Vocational Training Programme in Automotive Studies at the same institution, which he successfully completed in June 2025.
Pedro reflects with satisfaction that these years of training have not been easy. He has had to make great efforts to balance his studies, internships, final projects and work commitments. At all times, he was aware that the scholarship gave him the opportunity to study at one of the best vocational training centres in Spain and that the knowledge he was acquiring was essential to working in the field he is passionate about. Knowing that he was at a crucial moment for his education and professional future gave him the motivation and perspective needed to keep moving forward.
Today, Pedro continues to work at El Llindar and aims to train as a teacher in the field of automotive studies, with the desire to support young people who, like him, have found in automotive training the motivation they once lacked in school. In the near future, he hopes to pursue a Master’s Degree in Teacher Training.
